What is a gathri?

Gathri is the Hindi word for a cloth-wrapped bundle — the kind a traveller or merchant tied up by hand and carried across India with their most precious things. Spices wrapped inside cotton. Sweets tied off with twine. Letters from home pressed between two pieces of cloth.

We took the word back as our name. Today, Gathri brings Indore's best-loved foods to your doorstep.

How it works

You order on gathri.in by 6 pm IST. The next morning our team in Indore walks out to the city's best-known shops and picks up your items. They pack them into a courier mailer with our Gathri sticker and the city's Place Stamp, and hand it to a delivery partner the same day. Most cities get it in 2–4 working days after dispatch; smaller towns can take up to 7.

We don't make the food ourselves, and we don't change how the original shop packed it. Every item arrives in its maker's own pack, with the maker's details and ingredients printed on it. What we do is gather, curate and carry — the way a friend bringing you something from their hometown would.

The Place Stamp

Every Gathri carries a small circular Place Stamp — the city, the pincode, the year — so you know exactly where everything came from. The way coffee drinkers read origin labels, we want India's regional food cultures to have the same vocabulary.

The cloth bundle

Our mark is a small cloth bundle, drawn up and tied at the top. It's a way of saying we've tied India's regional flavours together under one name — different shops, different cities, one Gathri.
